Cash Management

NOT ALL TRUST ESTATES DESIRE INTENSE CASH MANAGEMENT OF THEIR INVESTMENTS.  FOR THOSE WHO DO, THE OPTION IS THERE TO MAXIMIZE INVESTMENT POTENTIAL.

Normally, conservative trust investment management does not generate changes to the trust estate portfolio on a frequent basis.  Investments are chosen that represent the long term needs of the beneficiaries, and that provide for accumulation without the need to plan for unscheduled disbursements.  This is the standard model for investment of trust funds.

Cash Management investing by a trustee refers to intense investment management with more frequent changes in portfolio holdings -- something that is not the normal standard in fiduciary investing for long term growth with only pre-planned cash needs.  Though most irrevocable trusts would not be able to participate in Cash Management investing, it may represent an option that a living trustor might desire to maximize investment potential.

Normally in Cash Management, mutual funds are replaced with individual stocks and bonds, or electronically traded funds (ETFs), so that the investments may be efficiently bought and sold in a shorter time frame.  This allows for specific investment strategies that are accomplished in terms of weeks or months, rather than the normal longer time frame of traditional trust estates.
